Jasmijn Lootens
—-

Jasmijn plays a wide spectrum, from classical cello across microtonal experiments to electronically manipulated improvisations. As a soloist, Jasmijn gave concerts at Ghent Festival of Flanders, Festival Midis-Minimes(Brussels), Baroque Festival Tata (HU), Klara in deSingel, Flagey, De Bijloke, Handelsbeurs, Concertgebouw aan 't IJ (NL) ... She is a cellist at Tiptoe Company, which focuses on contemporary chamber music. With Nemø ensemble she performs contemporary, experimental music and explores alternative concert formats. Since 2020, she has formed the trio bODEM with clarinetist Niels Hap and pianist Ivo Delaere, in which they present repertoire from the 20th and 21st centuries.
Together with pianist Michaël Verlinden she founded the musical lab Oo. from which original compositions have been broadcasted on Klara during Late Night Shift and Valckenaers & Vanhoudt. This led to the transdisciplinary Studio Radiaal with Jeroen Cluckers (film), A. De Causmaecker (space) and Maarten Craeynest (music technology). They focus on audiovisual installations and performances. Their first output was presented in Germany, Canada, USA, Brazil, Australia, Belarus, Argentina, Spain, Turkey, Italy, UK , The Netherlands, and Belgium. This is part of the doctorate that Jasmijn has been working on since 2018 at LUCA School of Arts / KU Leuven and docARTES / Orpheus Institute in Ghent.
